oriented Police Department.
Established in 1948 the North Syracuse Police Department has continuously evolved to meet the public safety needs of the citizens they serve.

The Department is now comprised of 16 sworn officers and 2 civilians on staff and is responsible for over 7,800 complaints a year ranging from quality of life issues to major felonies.
Today's North Syracuse Police Department, under the leadership of Chief of Police Tom Connelly, employs sworn personnel trained to meet the unique challenges facing law enforcement in the 21st century. In addition to 800 hours of training mandated by state law under the Municipal Police Training Council, North Syracuse Police Officers receive specialized training in anti-terrorism, youth relations, juvenile law, emergency management and much more. This specialized training enhances the abilities and skills that are necessary for Officers to effectively provide professional and quality service to the public it serves.

NEW YORK STATE ACCREDITED AGENCY
The law enforcement professionals of the North Syracuse Police Department became accredited in response to a need to ensure the public that quality services are being delivered in accordance with recognized accepted standards.
Our agency developed an accreditation program which requires compliance with more than 134 professional standards designed specifically for New York law enforcement agencies. These standards are practical, easily understood, and achievable. The program was designed with the following goals:
•to establish and maintain standards that represent current professional law enforcement practices;
•to increase effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery of law enforcement services;
•to establish standards that address and reduce liability for the agency and its members;
•to establish standards that make an agency and its personnel accountable to the constituency they serve;

Our Police Officers aggressively patrol the Village Streets - 24 hours a day,
seven days a week without interruption.
Some answers to commonly asked questions:
Noise - Noise ordinance is in effect from 10pm - 7am. Unreasonable noise can be either verbal or mechanical which crosses property lines and annoys a person of reasonable sensibilities including but not limited to:Radios or bands, loud mufflers or engines, power equipment, loud parties, or barking dogs.
Dogs - All dogs over 6 months old must be licensed. When not confined to house or yard, dogs must be leashed. Owners are responsible to clean up after pets. Owners are responsible to prevent nuisance barking.
Parking Regulations - No all night parking on streets between 1am & 7am, November 15 - April 15. No All night parking in municipal parking lots. No parking within 15 feet of hydrants or stop signs.
